I authorize ARC, Nassau County Department of Assessment to communicate directly with Property Tax Drop in all matters relating to this application.Eligibility: A. A person named in the records of the Nassau County Clerk as a homeowner; or B. That person’s authorized agent; or C. A person who has contracted to buy a home; or D. The estate of a deceased homeowner, is eligible under law to receive a tax assessment reduction and a property tax refund. E. The property is a one, two or three family home used exclusively for residential purposes. If you are not in any of these categories, you will not be able to receive a property tax refund and you should not sign this authorization form. If you are in one of these categories, you may sign this agreement to have Property Tax Drop represent you.Notification of Assessment Reduction: PTD will make every reasonable effort to communicate settlement results and Court decisions to you where necessary. PTD will notify you within 30 days of any settlements/Court decisions once all settlement documents/SCAR decisions are received. I authorize PTD to receive any refund check from Nassau County or any other municipality concerning this filing. Acceptance of any Nassau County ARC settlement offers are at the discretion of PTD.Services To Be Performed: Note: You are not required by law to a tax reduction company to receive an assessment reduction, or to file a grievance case. By signing this agreement, you are directing Property Tax Drop (not affiliated with any municipality) to prepare and file your grievance with the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission (ARC), to represent you in an communication involving offers of settlement, and full authorize PTD to accept said offers of settlement on your behalf. You authorize PTD to represent you at any settlement conference, including a SCAR hearing of the Supreme Court. PTD will prepare and file all necessary documents, including all evidence for a SCAR hearing should one be necessary. You authorize Property Tax Drop to receive a refund check from Nassau County or any other municipality where PTD may deduct its fees and forward the balance along to you within 30 days. You authorize PTD to file a SCAR appeal on your behalf, when necessary and warranted, and agree to pay the NYS Court's 30 dollar filing fee or reimburse PTD if paid on your behalf.Fee for Services: Property Tax Drop does not charge a fee if there is no assessment reduction awarded. If successful, by signing this form I agree to pay a fee of 35% of the savings for the 2026/27 tax year using tax rates from the 2026/27 tax year only. Tax rates and assessments from previous years are irrelevant to the calculation of savings for 2026/27. I agree to be responsible for this fee if I sell my home or move out for whatever reason. It is the responsibility of the applicant/client to notify Property Tax Drop of a pending sale so the case may be transferred to the buyers prior to closing. If the filing of an appeal is warranted, I agree to pay the $30 NYS Court filing fee for SCAR. This is not a fee charged by PTD. Appeals are only filed after in-depth review by PTD where cases cannot be settled out of Court and have sufficient merit. If I default on the agreed upon payment, I agree to pay a $50 late fee after 30 days, in addition to reasonable attorney's fees and Court filing costs associated with PTD and its legal department collecting this debt.Cancellation: Any homeowner may cancel by written request, with no penalty, prior to the case being filed with the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission (ARC) as of January 2, 2025. Cases withdrawn after that filing by request or due to duplicate filing are subject to a $285 cancellation fee. YOU MAY ONLY HIRE 1 REPRESENTATIVE TO HANDLE YOUR CASE EACH YEAR.
